Royal Free London on BBC News

Group CEO Peter Landstrom praised the commitment of RFL staff in an interview with BBC News. You can watch the interview today.

BBC Health Editor Hugh Pym interviewed Peter at the Royal Free Hospital and filmed a patient in the new PET scanner, which was funded by the Royal Free Charity.

Peter explained how the new scanner allows us to diagnose and ultimately treat patients much faster, more accurately and more safely, making a huge difference to patients’ lives. He added that it is one element in our arsenal that also includes our surgical hub at Chase Farm Hospital and the community diagnostic centre at Finchley Memorial Hospital.

Peter said he was confident the NHS could provide a solution for patients despite the challenges.

He said: “In the past year at Royal Free London we have seen more activity, more treatments and more patients than ever before. Things like the new scanner really help, but it’s also our employees, their expertise and their passion. I see it every day at Royal Free London and that gives me confidence that we can absolutely deliver.”
