An Ottawa woman who worked as a counselor at a local summer camp is accused of sexually abusing a girl under the age of 12 last year. Police believe there are additional victims.

Ottawa police announced charges against Ghadeer El-Haddad, 24, on Thursday.

She is accused of sexual abuse, sexual harassment and assault.

According to police, El-Haddad worked as an inclusion counselor with children with special needs. The charges follow an investigation by the police department’s Sexual Abuse and Child Abuse Unit.

El-Haddad was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

Police did not release the name of the camp in their press release or when asked by the CBC, but they did say that the camp is not owned or managed by the City of Ottawa.
