Fishing violations at Regina Beach Pier lead to 15 charges

Saskatchewan wildlife officials have filed 15 charges following fishing regulation violations at the Regina Beach Pier on Last Mountain Lake.

According to a press release from the Saskatchewan government on Wednesday, officers conducted checks on 168 fishermen between the May long weekend and May 25-26.

During the checks, several violations were found, including exceeding the pike-perch limit, exceeding the large pike-perch limit, using more than one line in open water and being more than 25 meters away from a fishing line.

During the inspections, officers seized 35 pike-perch.

According to the press release, conservationists receive a large number of calls each year to the Turn in Poachers and Polluters (TIPP) line about code violations at the Regina Beach Pier.

If anyone suspects a violation, they are asked to call the TIPP line at 1-800-667-7561, report the violation online, or contact their local government office.
