Police are warning of heavy traffic on a section of Highway 401 after a truck carrying live chickens collided with a vehicle in Milton Wednesday morning.

At 7:30 a.m., Ontario Provincial Police reported that they responded to a crash on Highway 401, west of James Snow Parkway. The truck driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police said live chickens were lying on the highway and the incident caused heavy traffic. The county’s Animal Welfare Services were called to the scene.

Drivers are asked to consider alternative routes as lane closures are expected until at least 12:00 p.m.
