A man has been arrested and Durham police say they are searching for another suspect after a 62-year-old man with “obvious signs of trauma” died in hospital outside an Oshawa home.

Officers were called to the home on Kitchener Road, in the area of Dean Avenue and Ritson Road South, around 11:30 p.m. Monday night for a report of a public disturbance, Sergeant Joanne Bortoluss said.

They found the victim and he was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Bortoluss said she could not comment on the nature of his injuries, but said an autopsy scheduled for Wednesday should provide more information.

According to Bortoluss, researchers are still in the process of informing the relatives.

A man was arrested by officers near the home and remains in police custody, Bortoluss said. She did not say whether charges were pending against him.

Police are looking for a second suspect, whom Bortoluss can only describe as a man.

Investigators are encouraging anyone in the area who may have seen anything unusual late Monday night or who has relevant video footage to contact Durham police.
