Brad Pitt F1 movie star outlines CRUCIAL role of Lewis Hamilton

Damson Idris, who is set to star in Brad Pitt’s Formula 1 film, has revealed the pivotal role Lewis Hamilton will play on set.

Idris plays Joshua Pearce, Sonny Hayes’ Pitt teammate, who returns to mentor the young star and compete for the fictional APX GP.

The trailer for the film was shown ahead of Sunday’s British Grand Prix and showed footage shot at various circuits on the Formula 1 calendar, including Silverstone, Spa and Monza.

To add an extra element of reality, Lewis Hamilton has a producing role in the film, alongside Pitt, Jerry Bruckheimer and director Joseph Kosinski.

What is Lewis Hamilton’s role in the F1 movie?

London-born actor Damson Idris has revealed Hamilton’s role in the Formula 1 film and explained how it is unique in the industry.

In an interview previewing the film, Idris spoke about how Hamilton has brought authenticity to Formula 1, calling his role a “rarity.”

“Well, there is no better person to teach you everything about Formula 1 than Lewis Hamilton,” Idris explained to IWC Schaffhausen.

“So Lewis comes in and basically calls ‘BS’ – he lets us know ‘hey, that wouldn’t happen,’ which is a rarity in this art form.

“As I said, it’s a fictional story, so if we have someone who lives, breathes and sleeps Formula 1, we couldn’t be in better hands.”

When is Brad Pitt’s F1 movie coming out?

The F1 film starring Brad Pitt will be released internationally on June 25, 2025, while the film will be released in North America two days later, on June 27, 2025.
