A group of Japanese students come to Victoria to experience Canadian culture.

From July 26 to August 8, students from Kamakura Jogakuin High School (HS) will be in town to participate and learn about ‘Canadian life’.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Kamakura Jogakuin, HS group back this year,” Cheryl Lee, COO of Canadian International Student Services (CISS), Muskoka Language International (MLI). “Families often have life-changing experiences right in their own backyard. It’s great for the students and just as rewarding for our hosts.”

Students will be welcomed to the Pacific Christian Elementary Campus for a host matching ceremony before departing on August 8. On campus, they will host a guest speaker from Global Girls.

After the ceremony there is plenty of time for students and host families to get to know each other.

“It’s wonderful to see the friendships that develop between students and their host families,” said Lee.

During their two-week exploration of the island, they will experience outdoor barbecues, marshmallow roasts, Sunday morning pancakes and much more, according to MLI.
