Saskatoon firefighters battle apartment fire

All residents of the apartment complex were safely evacuated.

SASKATOON – The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to an apartment fire at Confederation Place on Tuesday, July 9. Dispatch received the report at 9:55 a.m.

The first firefighters to arrive on the scene saw smoke coming from a ground-floor apartment and immediately began installing fire hoses after the incident commander assigned tactical tasks.

They entered the apartment and completely extinguished the fire. Firefighters later installed fans to blow smoke out of the building.

All residents of the apartment building were safely evacuated, which was confirmed during a thorough search of the building. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.

The scene has been turned over to a fire investigator who will investigate and identify the cause, origin and damage assessment of the fire. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
