Toronto Police Identify Boy, 16, Shot Dead in Parkdale Apartment

Toronto police have identified a 16-year-old boy who was shot dead Monday morning in a Parkdale apartment building.

According to police, Mohamed Doumbouya, 16, of Toronto, was shot in an apartment near King Street W. and Jameson Avenue.

Police said they responded to a report of gunfire shortly after midnight.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found Doumbouya with gunshot wounds.

“Life-saving measures were taken, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene,” police said in a press release on Tuesday.

The boy is the city’s 46th murder victim of the year.

On Monday afternoon, Det.-Sgt. Jeff Allington told reporters at a news conference that Doumbouya was not a resident of the building, but he declined to say how or why he was in the building.

Allington said there were “a number of people” walking in and out of the building around the time of the killing.

There is no word yet on suspects.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact police or leave a tip anonymously with Crime Stoppers.
