Regina Urgent Care Centre sees over 500 patients in first week

It’s been a busy day at Regina’s brand new Urgent Care Centre. The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) reported that more than 500 patients were treated at the facility in its first week alone.

The center, located at 1320 Albert St., is currently open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Once staffed, the center plans to be open 24/7.

The facility is intended for emergency patients with injuries or illnesses that are not life-threatening.

In addition, the center is equipped to help people dealing with mental health and addiction crises, and there is even a separate entrance for these types of crises.

Thomas Stewart, SHA’s executive director of acute care, will speak to reporters about the update at 2 p.m.
