A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the killing of a Winnipeg man whose body was dumped in the city’s North End late last year.

According to Winnipeg police, officers were called to Flora Avenue west of Main Street on Dec. 30 where they found a man dead outside. Investigators later determined he was the victim of a homicide.

The victim has since been identified as Brooklyn Elijah Hiebert, 20, of Winnipeg.

Hiebert was fatally attacked by another man near Selkirk Avenue, police said in a news release Tuesday.

His body was then taken to Flora Avenue, where it was left, the press release said.

Christopher Kyle Wattman, 36, was arrested Sunday in connection with the killing. He has since been charged with first-degree murder and remains in police custody.
