Discover the Land of the Rising Sun for less.

Travelers looking to fly from Vancouver to Tokyo, Japan this fall can still score tickets hundreds of dollars cheaper than average.

Travel to the Land of the Rising Sun remains cheap thanks to a new route from the Japanese airline that describes itself as ‘basic’.

Zipair, owned by Japan Airlines (JAL), took off from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on March 13, offering the cheapest direct flight between the region and Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT).

Prior to the launch, tickets were virtually sold out on many dates in March and April, and lower ticket classes were no longer available on popular dates in the summer.

The airline has added more flights following the increase in ticket sales. Currently, it offers three flights a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Zipair will increase the service to five flights a week with additional flights on Tuesdays and Fridays.
