Ottawa under weather forecast for heavy rain from remnants of Hurricane Beryl

It’s going to be a wet week in the National Capital Region.

Environment Canada has a special weather forecast as the remnants of Hurricane Beryl are expected to bring heavy rainfall.

According to the weather bureau, downpours are possible, with precipitation amounts of 20 to 40 mm per hour at times. Locally, the total precipitation could even exceed 50 mm.

There is still little confidence in the weather system’s trajectory and associated precipitation amounts at this time. According to Environment Canada, precipitation warnings may be issued as the system’s trajectory becomes more predictable.

Rain is expected to start late Tuesday night or Wednesday morning and continue through Thursday.
