Police say one person has been arrested after several residents of a Richmond neighborhood were advised to stay indoors earlier Tuesday morning.

Ottawa police first posted the incident on X, formerly known as Twitter, around 6:45 a.m., urging others to avoid Pacing Walk and Maynell Road in the southwestern part of the rural community in southern Ottawa.

The original report did not go into detail about the nature of the police investigation, nor did initial calls to the department for more details.

Shortly after 7:30 a.m., police reported that one person had been arrested. The police operation has been completed and residents are expected to encounter police in the area for the next few hours.

The incident occurred approximately 30 kilometres from downtown Ottawa.
