What we know so far

  • A fire on the line between Redhill and Reigate has caused significant disruption to rail services. The fire has been extinguished but has damaged the cable system, resulting in blocked lines and service changes.
  • Affected routes: Great Western Railway between Gatwick Airport and Reading, and Southern between London Victoria and Reigate are affected. Southern trains will be unable to stop at Reigate, with services now terminating at Redhill. Trains may experience delays of up to 20 minutes.
  • The disruption is expected to last until 3pm. Network Rail must carry out additional repairs to the damaged cable system before normal services can be resumed.
  • Passengers are advised to use Metrobus services between Reigate and Redhill, with train tickets accepted at no extra cost. Multiple bus routes (430, 435, 420, 411, 422, 424) are operating to serve the affected areas and connect to key locations including Gatwick Airport.
  • In case of delays, compensation may be available. Passengers are advised to retain their tickets and travel details for possible claims.
