The accused individuals have appeared in provincial court for the first time and will be enrolled in a training program for first-time offenders, police said.

REGINA – According to Regina police, 16 individuals have been charged with procuring sexual services after a two-day sting operation that targeted individuals attempting to purchase sexual services.

On Wednesday, June 19 and Thursday, June 20, the Regina Police Service Vice Unit, Regina Police Service Trafficking Response Team, along with the Prince Albert Police Service Trafficking Response Team, arrested 16 people. All were charged with obtaining sexual services for payment.

According to police, the two-day project aims to target those who are most vulnerable in the community and help combat human trafficking and child exploitation.

The defendants made their initial appearance in provincial court and will be enrolled in a first-time offender training program, police said.
