One person injured in shooting in northern Montreal

A 35-year-old man is in hospital after a shooting in Montreal’s North neighborhood.

Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call about the incident on Rolland Boulevard, near Pierre Street, at 4 a.m. Tuesday.

“When police arrived on the scene, they found the victim lying on the ground in the middle of the boulevard,” said Véronique Dubuc, a spokesperson for the Montreal police.

The man was taken to hospital, but his life was not said to be in danger.

“According to initial information from witnesses, the suspect allegedly shot in the direction of the victim for an unknown reason and fled before police arrived,” Dubuc added, noting that officers found a shell casing on the ground near where the victim was found.

Investigators are on scene trying to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
