Five earthquakes were recorded in quick succession off the coast of British Columbia on Wednesday afternoon.

The United States Geological Survey recorded the first quake, magnitude 4.4, at 12:59 p.m. about 133 miles (214 kilometers) west of Tofino on Vancouver Island, followed 19 minutes later by a magnitude 4.7 quake in the same region.

According to authorities, a 4.5 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the area at 1:21 p.m., a 4.3 magnitude earthquake at 1:23 p.m., and a fifth 4.0 magnitude earthquake at 2:22 p.m.

According to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Tsunami Warning System, which issues tsunami warnings and information for the continental U.S. and Canada, no tsunami hazard is expected as a result of the seismic activity.

According to authorities, all of the earthquakes occurred at a depth of about 10 kilometers.
