“I’m more of a cricket guy, that’s all I throw. So I’ve got to figure out how to throw this ball,” he told MLB.

“I had a quick workout, but I’ve been busy since 6am with all the hustle and bustle, so I haven’t had a chance to focus on it yet. Fingers crossed.”

The Yankees dominated the game, beating the Blue Jays 16-5.

Reflecting on his goal Mr Boombasticon the occasion of its upcoming 30th anniversary, Shaggy mused on its continued popularity.

“You know, it’s a gift that keeps on giving. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger. It just went over a billion in streams, which is different because it sold that much and then it went over a billion streams,” he said. “I heard it everywhere, man. All over the world.”

Shaggy added: “It’s the identity of Shaggy. When you think of Shaggy, it’s like Mr. Boombastic, and it’s a record. I know, those songs are magic. You don’t know what they’re going to do or how you’re going to do it, but you know when you do, there’s something special and you just have to grab on to the tail of the coat and run with it.

Shaggy and American R&B group 112 will perform at The Bowl at Sobey’s Stadium in Toronto on Saturday.

“I hear it’s a beautiful venue with 112 spectators tomorrow, and I think the crowds will just come… we have songs that have been the soundtrack to a lot of people’s lives over the last three decades, so we’re going to play them just play and make that place rock,” Shaggy said.
