A man was injured after the Camaro he was driving overturned in a ditch along US-31 in Port Sheldon Monday night.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, a 54-year-old West Olive man made a U-turn from southbound US-31 to northbound US-31 near Croswell Street Monday night at 7:20 p.m. He lost control of his vehicle and drove into a ditch on the right side of the road.

The crash caused the car to roll onto its roof, trapping the driver and a passenger, a 37-year-old Grand Haven man. Witnesses helped roll the car back upright, and the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Mercy Hospital with serious injuries.

The passenger was injured, but his life is not in danger.

The accident remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
