A 24-year-old man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash in Huntington Hills on Monday, according to Calgary police.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of 14 Street and 64 Avenue NW at approximately 7:30 a.m. for a collision between a Honda CBR600 and a Toyota Corolla.

Police said the Corolla turned left from northbound 14 Street NW while the motorcyclist was heading south.

“The motorcyclist attempted to brake, causing the motorcycle to roll onto its side and separate from the driver,” a police press release said Monday.

“The motorcycle and the driver collided with the car.”

The 84-year-old driver of the Corolla was not injured and remained at the scene, police said.

According to the ambulance service, the motorcyclist was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police do not believe that excessive speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
