An ongoing power outage in Scarborough left more than 15,000 Toronto Hydro customers without power Monday afternoon.

The utility said efforts to restore power to the affected area, which stretches from McNicoll Avenue in the south to Sheppard Avenue and Pharmacy Avenue in the east to Kennedy Road, are ongoing.

According to Toronto Hydro, power has been restored to more than 10,000 customers, but at least 3,150 customers remain without power at the time of writing.

The company said power was expected to be fully restored by 9:30 p.m. and thanked customers for their patience during the ongoing heatwave.

“We know it’s hot out there and we’re working as quickly and safely as possible,” the company said in a tweet

The exact cause of the outage is unknown at this time, but data from Toronto Hydro shows it started around 4:30 p.m.
