The City of Edmonton has set a new daily record. As of 4:00 p.m., Edmonton reached a high of 33.6 C, breaking the previous record set on July 8 of 32.2 C.

Temperatures are likely to rise a bit more during the afternoon. We will update this story Monday evening with the official maximum temperature.

Looking ahead to Tuesday and Wednesday, chances are we’ll see three consecutive days of record heat.

The record temperature of July 9 in 2015 was 34.1 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday we will reach a maximum temperature of about 34 degrees.

The record temperature of 33.0 degrees Celsius set on July 10, 2001 is almost certain to fall, as afternoon temperatures are expected to be 33-36 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures are likely to drop into the low 30s for Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Edmonton. However, we are still expecting warmer than average temperatures as afternoon temperatures are expected to be in the upper 20s.
