The armed attack on Parliament Hill has led to Kelowna International Airport tightening security measures.

A member of the Canadian Forces was shot at the war memorial in Ottawa on Wednesday morning, while multiple shots were fired inside the House of Commons. It follows two soldiers being struck by a vehicle in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que. Monday.

“We continue to monitor activity in the terminal building and YLW facilities,” said Jenelle Hynes, Kelowna International Airport community relations manager.

“There will also be enhanced security patrols and an increased RCMP presence at YLW. We just got back from a national teleconference with Transport Canada and there will be increased vigilance on all modes of public transportation across the country.”
